About the Authors of The Icelandic Horse
The editors of The Icelandic Horse are Gísli B. Björnsson and Hjalti Jón Sveinsson, who are also the principal authors. Sveinsson was editor of the Icelandic horse magazine Eiðfaxi for many years. Björnsson designed the book and edited all 700 photos, many of which were commisioned specially for this publication. Other authors include Kári Arnórsson, Sigríður Sigurðardóttir and Þorgeir Guðlaugsson, while a number of other specialists have also assisted with the prodject.
Kári Arnórsson is a former chairman of the Icelandic Horse-Club Federation (LH). He has written extensively on the Icelandic horse with an emphasis on breeding. He is the author and co-author of several books.
Sigríður Sigurðardóttir is a historian and the curator of the Museum of Skagafjörður. She is a board member of the of the Icelandic Horse Heritage Center. She lectures and writes regularly on the history of the Icelandic horse.
Þorgeir Guðlaugsson is a geographer, lecturer and translator, living in the Netherlands. He is one of the leading experts on the history of the Icelandic horse abroad, and lectures on the Icelandic horse and its breeding all over Northern Europe and in the US.
