15. Round-Ups and Sorting
Farmers have used horses since ancient times. For a long time sheep herding was the cornerstone of Icelandic agriculture, and as such defined how horses were used. In the highlands and on the moors, sheep grazed freely over the summer months. Herds of horses also grazed in highland pastures, a tradition that is no longer very common. Horses have always been indispensable to round-up these animals.
