13. On Foreign Ground

The Icelandic horse began gaining a strong foothold abroad after the middle of the last century, and since then has been well taken everywhere. The Icelandic gæðingur is now found all over the world, from the sunny beaches of the south to the tundra of the north. Every day, it provides thousands with joy and fulfilment. The horse is often called Iceland´s best ambassador, an appropriate title as foreigners have fallen in love with it so completely that there are now more Icelandic horses abroad than in Iceland.
