1. From far, far away
Horses are found around the world, and down through the centuries numerous breeds have evolved. If you look closer, you will find that the Icelandic horse comes from far away, even as far as Mongolia. Its winding path led from Asia, via Scandinavia to Iceland. Horses made it possible for people to move from one part of the world to another, from one country to another – they became indispensable for both travel and transport. The horse, therefore, is one of the most important keystones of civilization.
